Opening ports for the UVexplorer discovery is an alternative to running a UVx agent on that network - we do not recommend this but in some situations it may be necessary.

The discovery process uses a number of TCP and UDP ports for device detection and discovery:

Main ports:

PING (ICMP - no ports used)
SNMP (UDP -161)
SSH (TCP - 22)
TELNET (TCP - 23)

WMI/Powershell - TCP port 135

HTTP and VMware use the ports that you have configured on those platforms

If you have access to devices outside the firewall, we recommend installing a remote UVx agent to discover that side of the network. The agent will post the results back to the internal server and you will not need to open these ports.
